Valentina Schiavinato, PhD in Social and Personality Psychology, is a clinical and community psychologist and a psychotherapist. Her main research interests are: cultural and religious pluralism; communication and intercultural mediation in institutional settings and in everyday interactions; construction of identities and positioning practices. She is specialized in qualitative methods of social research and, in particular, in discourse and conversation analysis and ethnographic approach. She teaches social psychology, community psychology and intercultural communication at the University of Padova, where she also collaborated in the coordination of the Master in studies on European Islam. Since ten years she is teaching in training courses of intercultural mediation, communication and relationship skills. She is member of Interaction & Culture Lab (University of Padova) and FIDR (International Forum for Religions and Democracy - Interuniversity Center Culture, Religions and Law) and founding member in charge of University relations of FEMCI (Euro Mediterranean Forum of intercultural Competences).
